12 Tips to Slow Learner to Easily Speed Up Learning

Have you ever been unable to master something and could not speed up Learning? Did you find yourself taking longer to grasp something than others? Do you suffer from mental blocks in relation to specific areas? Everyone has strengths and weaknesses in terms of discovering new information. Every person is slow in learning about something or the other.

I’m aware that I’m a slow learner in learning new languages or any other technology. But, this doesn’t mean that I’m not a slow learner everywhere. It’s more than I’ve got an area for improvement.

I am happy for you and me. There are plenty of ways to accelerate learning by providing additional support, even if we’re talking about the subjects that are academic or creative and typically are difficult for us to tackle.

Here are 12 strategies for students who are slow to learn how to accelerate their learning.

1. Relax and Stay Calm to Speed Up Learning

It’s hard to grasp the fundamentals of any subject when you’re anxious or upset over some issue; therefore, learning to be calm and relaxed is essential to speed your learning.

According to one research study, stress adversely affected recall and recognition tasks. It’s a sign that we must relax and maintain a calm attitude when trying to change from a slow-learning person to an efficient one.

What types of activities could help us to reduce stress and maintain our peace? Exercises in breathing can help to lessen stress. Deepening and slowing down our breathing helps us feel more relaxed and less stressed. [2]

Meditation exercises can assist us in thinking more deeply about what we’re learning and less about what’s causing us stress. Paying attention to the sights and sounds in your immediate surroundings and listening to the surrounding sound can allow you to shift away from overthinking and worrying (bad to learn) to concentrate on the work that’s in front of you.

2. Remove Distractions

It’s extremely difficult for slow learners to master their skills when surrounded by distractions. The constant noise and the overload of technology can be in our way when trying to master a new skill.

If you can, put your phone down and switch off notifications. Make sure to find a quiet place that doesn’t have a radio or television to be competing with the subject you’re trying to master.

3. Eat Right

It might seem evident, but there’s an unambiguous link between good nutrition and learning outcomes. Nutritional deficiencies can make you feel as if you’re in an ethereal state and is a guaranteed way to slow your learning. [3]

Take care to combat it by eating a balanced, healthy, and balanced diet full of fresh fruits and veggies. Fatty acids have been associated with brain and memory enhancement; therefore, ensure you consume fish and nuts or consider taking an omega-3 supplement.

4. Proper Sleep is important to Speed Up Learning

Another way to Speed Up Learning is to have a lot of rest. While we sleep, our brains can process our day’s experiences. Some synaptic connections break down while others strengthen during sleep. This is a sign that your brain needs deep sleep to build memories, and you must go to sleep to Speed Up Learning.

At minimum seven hours of rest every night so you’ll get up feeling refreshed and prepared to take on the world. Review the material you’re trying to master before going to bed to make use of your time in bed to transfer the knowledge into long-term memories.

It is also helpful to establish a regular time to sleep. Your body requires regular Circadian rhythms to be able to fall to sleep and enjoy those vital REM cycles.

5. Play to Your Strengths to Speed Up Learning

Everyone has weak points and strengths, aren’t we? I’m not great at foreign languages, but I am much more comfortable writing and reading. Consider a self-assessment of your abilities and consider things that you master quickly and things that make you slow learners.

Utilize this self-assessment technique to your advantage and play according to your strengths. When I’m struggling to master Spanish or Bosnian, I push myself to read books for children or write simple stories as I enjoy them and am more comfortable in these tasks. This helps me master a subject that I am struggling with, as it’s playing up to my strengths instead of putting pressure on myself to study the grammar or remember flashcards.

6. Practice Makes Perfect

Another way to speed up learning slowly is to schedule repeated exposure to the subject you’re trying to learn. Rereading your notes only once will not make a difference.

Spaced repetition is something that can improve learning effectiveness[44. Spaced repetition happens when you study difficult material more often and easy material less frequently. [5]

For instance, if I’m trying to master the language of my choice, I may take a test with vocabulary flashcards. I’ll repeat all the questions I made incorrectly earlier than I did correctly as I continue filling in the new cards.

Spaced repetition is a well-tested method of storing new information in long-term memory. This means it becomes second nature.

7. Mnemonic Devices

Who is still alive to ROYGBIV? Most likely a lot of us. ROYGBIV is an instrument for mnemonics that helps us quickly (and quickly) recall the shades in the rainbow.

Mnemonic devices aid in speed up learning by making encoding simpler. It’s much easier than remembering ROYGBIV than keeping track of all colors. Also, the initial letters of every color are an idea to help me remember the colors much easier. If you’re experiencing difficulties to speed up learning, you can speed it up using Mnemonic devices.

8. Try All Learning Styles to Speed Up Learning

Learning styles gained in popularization in the early 1990s. Since then, it’s been difficult to find conclusive evidence that a person’s preferred learning method (auditory, visual, kinesthetic, and writing/reading) enhances their speed up learning results. However, knowing the preferred style of learning can assist you in Speed Up Learning.

I’m sure I’d rather write things out, and so, when I want more chances of knowing the name of someone, I write it down myself or have them write it down, as seeing it written out makes me more confused.

Find the style of learning you prefer and apply the style to Speed Up Learning. To speed up learning, learn, mix and match Speed Up Learning methods, and attempt to align your speed up learning style with what you’re trying to master.

If, for instance, you’re trying to master an entirely new song, it’s best to listen to it first. If you’re trying to work out the new stats, It might help visualize it visually.

9. Reflect and Adjust

If we’re talking about Speed Up Learning, It may not be appropriate to stop and think; however, being self-aware and reflective will help you learn faster in the long term.

A journal that you keep to record previous learning can help Speed Up Learning in a small way; however, it could give you the boost you need to transform from an unmotivated learner to one who isn’t so slow.

10. Know Your Learning Blocks to Speed Up Learning

It’s also crucial to understand why you stop when trying to master new skills. I’m more likely to be defensive and shut down instead of exploring new ideas if I’m embarrassed. It is important to determine the reasons behind your shut-down and then overcome it and keep learning.

Improv can teach us how to create environments for learning that encourage learning and creativity. By embracing the ideas of others and not judging one another, and allowing us to create environments for speed up learning that is more conducive to learning faster.

11. Don’t Be Afraid of Mistakes

Learning is also a process that involves making mistakes. If we’re too focused on being perfect or getting it right, we’ll avoid taking risks required to gain knowledge.

If mistakes do occur, It is crucial to talk about them in a way that allows you to take lessons from them and not let them result in embarrassment and shame. [6]

12. Get Curious and Be Playful to Speed Up Learning

To go from a slow student to a speedy one, it’s essential to be interested in whatever you’re learning. One study found that curiosity proved beneficial for working performance and speed up learning in the workplace. [7]

The most important thing to success is shifting the way we focus. When we play, we’re better at shifting our attention from internal thoughts to a more external view of the objects and people surrounding us. This reduces thinking too much and can help individuals focus on the present moment and the work, which is a crucial ingredient for effective and speed up learning.
